Notions Of Originality
Originality is key part of an artists work as they grow and learn from the things around them. Most artists when creating a piece of art will research other artists who have done a similar thing, and use their work to inspire there own. Though doing this is helpful for coming up with ideas, it can lead to artist copying others work even if accidental. This is most common these days with artist such as Matteo Bertolio who did an image for an editorial piece which resembles Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe piece. Being completely original is hard to do as you have to get your inspiration from somewhere and creating your own art requires experimentation and imagination to create something which is special and unique.
Being original can make an artist and can break and artist as they have to create something influential and contemporary when they first show us their art because if the art isn’t original ten it will be cased off and forgotten about.
Reconceptualised Ideas And Concepts In Contemporary Culture
This is a good concept to talk about as i really like all the new ads and campaigns which use older artwork from history and famous artists who have used these concepts in their work. These are mostly from fashion shoots and from commercial campaigns. This can also relate to Notions Of Originality as artists use work by other artists, but these pieces are meant to be a copycat version but have a different turn on the image, to give it the uniqueness of the inspired artist. It is almost like they are using their artist inspired work from the sketchbook stage
